SAVINGS SOAR WITH AIR FORCE BASE ROOF RESTORATION
The 140th Engineering Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado had a number of buildings that required modernization in order to assure operational readiness – an administration center, a large equipment service garage, and a munitions storage facility. Many of the buildings were old, and in some cases, maintenance had been deferred. The Department of Defense had received re-roofing bids way beyond the budget.
Fortis assessed each of the roofs using our proprietary Fortis Roof Risk Assessment (FRRA) and determined that, when properly reconditioned, the roof for the munitions storage building could qualify for a 20-year extended warranty, the roof for the equipment maintenance facility could qualify for an additional 15-year warranty and the admin center could qualify for a 7-year warranty. These warranties covered labor and materials and guaranteed roof performance for the entire term of each warranty.
BOTTOM LINE IMPACT
Buckley Air Force Base was able to save major dollars and defer re-roofing costs for years, and got guaranteed roof performance on 83,000 square feet of roofs at less than a quarter of the cost of a re-roof. Most importantly, they were able to restore mission critical buildings to operational readiness and stay within available budgets.
