FORTIS SERVES UP SAVINGS TO MCDONALDS
A McDonald’s store in Colorado had sustained hail damage to the roof. Four roofing contractors had provided proposals to re-roof the store, all providing a 10-year, materials-only warranty. None were willing to provide a warranty on the existing roof. The franchisee was facing an unexpected expense for re-roofing. And consequently, cash flow constraints threatened to delay a planned store remodel.
Fortis’ rigorous inspection determined that the damage was generally limited to the roof surface where granules had displaced or separated from membrane sheets. The fiberglass reinforcement remained embedded in asphalt and field testing showed the waterproofing barrier remained in performing condition. Using our proprietary Fortis Roof Risk Assessment (FRRA), we established that the roof could be reconditioned and qualify for a 10-year extended warranty – no exclusions except for damage by others or acts of God.
BOTTOM LINE IMPACT
Fortis was able to serve up massive savings for the franchise owner. For less than half the cost of a re-roof, Fortis provided guaranteed roof performance for the full 10-year warranty term. This McDonald’s store also avoided the disruption and inconvenience of a re-roof, and the planned store remodel was able to be completed on schedule.
